About Our Coffee

And of course….Coffee, Coffee, Coffee! We roast our own blends starting with green beans from around the world. You can view us roasting through the observation window located by the front (rear) entrance.

Blends vs. Single Origins

A common question is "Why do we blend our coffees as opposed to selling single origins?" The answer is that the very few single origin coffees that can deliver the multitude of characteristics that a blend can are quite expensive. A good example are the praised Konas from Hawaii which can be $20 to $200 a pound. Also, coffee harvests change every year. Just like grapes and wine there are good years and not so good years. We craft each of our Coffees to give the desired end effect and that process is on going. If there is one reason why Dosey Doe Coffee has become so well liked...consistent quality!

Free Trade - Organic

Another common question is "Is your coffee Free Trade and/or Organic?". Since our coffee is blended with only 100% arabica (the highest quality beans) you will find all the best that the world has to offer in it. Yes, we do have Free Trade and Organic, however, please know that we sell an honest cup of coffee. So many coffees stating to be Free Trade and/or Organic are not as there is no single governing body to determine the truth in that labeling. Unfortunately, everyone takes advantage to the point that the labels are worthless. There is a move in the industry to have a central body test and validate both criteria. We are in support of that effort.

Fresh?

Most all of us have grown up on "dead" coffee as well as beans that where never 100% arabica . To determine if your coffee is truly fresh follow this formual:
1. Buy from someone who roasts every day.
2. Buy coffee in one pound (or less) bags that have one way valves (keeps deadly excess oxygen from continuously pouring in).
3. Grind only what you need.
Your coffee will maintain most all of its wonderful characteristics for up to six weeks. Make that four weeks if you buy ground coffee. You have another four weeks of good if not the best possible coffee before it becomes dead. Refrigeration and freezing have no appreciable effects on freshness.

”The Ultimate Cup”

Start with superior beans. Add education and understanding. Artistically coax and fuse each bean’s unique characteristics. Smile with true Satisfaction!

We now ship over 500 lbs. of our coffee everyday around the world!

Brewing Tips

...It is in the grind!

Too Weak...

1. Use the same amount of coffee + water and use a finergrind.
2. If still too weak use the same amount of water and add 10% more coffee.

Too Strong...

1. Use the same amount of coffee + water and use a coarse grind.
2. If still too strong use the same amount of water and 10% less coffee.
